Hey, shifter fans! Tami Lund here, and guess what? I’ve got another book releasing soon!
This one is called Dark Moon Falls Volume II. (Yes, there was a Volume I, which you can check out HERE.)
It’s a box set, and it’s unique in that it’s a bunch of different authors, all writing in the same world.
(The world is called Dark Moon Falls. It’s located in the Pacific Northwest, basically near the border of Canada and the US. It’s a small town at the base of a mountain. There’s a wolf shifter pack there, plus a witches coven, and humans are aware of their existence. Even though it’s a small town, there’s always lots of intrigue – and of course, lots of falling in love!)
It’s very different writing in a shared world, versus writing your own books using your own made up concepts where you get to control literally everything. Lucky for me, I’ve worked on shared projects before, so the concept wasn’t new.
It isn’t without its challenges, though. Names seems to be one of the big ones. Several of us have named characters the same or similar, and then we have to decide who gets to keep the original and who has to change their name. Even the spelling of names sometimes is up for debate.
And then there are businesses within the town; making sure we all describe basic information the same. What’s the décor like inside the local bar? Is the owner of the grocery store a human or shifter? Male or female? What’s he/she look like? Is there more than one grocery store? Is there a school? Do all kids go there or just supernatural beings (aka no humans)?
Then we had to decide what sort of magic our characters wield. When wolves shift, what happens to their clothes? What sort of spells can the witches concoct? Can the wolves communicate when in wolf form? Can they all communicate, or just those within the same pack? Fated mates or not? And what happens if a wolf mates with a human?
On and on the questions go, and each time, we hash them out and then continue building on this fantastic new world. While sometimes it’s frustrating because you want to do things one way and someone else wants to do them another, overall, it’s a pretty freaking cool experience. To be honest, sometimes it’s easier because I don’t have to make some of the big world building decisions. I just have to write the love story – and some excitement to go along with it.
My story in this box set is called Benjamin (they are all named for our heroes), and it involves rogue shifters and a heroine who is running from her past. I’m pretty excited for it, and I can’t wait for you all to read it. In fact, I can’t wait for you to read the entire set. I think you’re going to love it!
