I scrambled for my magic, ready to defend myself. And maybe if I’d done it, if I’d used my thrall on him, it would have worked. But I met his gaze, and just like that, I was lost.
His green eyes changed first, utterly consumed by gold. And then, his humanoid body vanished. He sprouted a tail and his skin was covered in fur. His fingernails turned into claws. His spine curved and he grew even bulkier than before.
That in itself wasn’t so unusual. I was familiar with a werewolf’s transformation. Unlike every other time I’d seen him—or anyone else—shift, though, he didn’t change into a wolf. Instead, his body stopped transforming about mid-way through. He turned into a strange, anomalous hybrid, neither human, nor completely a wolf.
He moved so quickly I didn’t even have the chance to scream. Before I knew it, he was on top of me, his hands already roaming my body.
“Mine,” he growled in a barely understandable voice. “Mine, mine, mine. My Omega.”
No. Oh, no, no, no. I was not going there. Bad enough that I’d had sex with him once, when he’d looked like a person. Like this? He was more beast than man. I couldn’t possibly accept it.
Recovering from my strange haze, I tried to shove him off, but he was too heavy. I made a futile attempt to reach for my knife, but he just snatched it out of my grasp and threw it away. Burying my claws in his flesh did nothing.  He gripped my wrist and extracted the sharp tips from the wound, licking my fingers just like I had earlier.
It was a strangely seductive motion, made stranger still by his current form. “Let me go,” I snarled at him. “I won’t allow this.”
He laughed at me, the sound coming out like an odd, raspy sound. “There’s nothing you can do, Omega.”
Hissing, I summoned my magic and tried to will him to release me. It didn’t work any better now than it had earlier.
If only I hadn’t been so hasty when I’d come into the cell. I’d had a plan. I’d wanted to build a proper ritual circle. If I’d done that, all my spells and powers would have been at my disposal, and he would have never managed to touch me. But somehow, my brain kept shutting down whenever I was in the same room with Wade Hewitt.
It was unacceptable. There had to be some way, another way to fix this.
I desperately struggled to find a solution, but Wade wasn’t about to allow it. He’d already made his decision and it didn’t involve me getting free anytime soon.
His sharp claws made short work of my short, black dress and my underwear. In the blink of an eye, I was next to naked on the cold floor of the cell. He hadn’t bothered to take my boots off, but that didn’t help me much.
His transformation had been so jarring that it had left him completely nude, and I couldn’t help but note that he was larger... everywhere. The size of his erection made me break out in cold sweat. I wasn’t prone to panicking, but that thing was huge. If he tried to shove it inside me, he’d rip me apart.
I must have said that out loud, because he shook his head and said, “No, I won’t. You were made for me.”
It might have been reassuring had it not come from the lips of a lupine creature. When he looked at me, I felt like prey.
And then, he did something I didn’t expect. His rough tongue traveled over my neck and collarbone. Sensation exploded over my body and my dread and anger melted into something else, into something very different.
Alpha, a voice whispered at the back of my mind. Yes, Alpha. Claim me. Make me yours.
